Natural Window Cleaner

My grandpa always said “poop or get off the pot.” He certainly used a more colorful word for poop but you get the idea.

This past week’s festivities, guests and events have left me exhausted but heart full. Wanting nothing more than to sit in my pajamas and binge watch Wednesday on Netflix. I knew I couldn’t do this. It’s difficult to properly relax when there seems to be clean up to do in every room.

So it was time I reminded myself of this quote and picked myself up by the bootstraps and got to work. The bathrooms were at the top of the list!

Does anyone else’s family members make toothpaste splatter an art form? It seems every week I have a new Rorschach toothpaste test on the mirrors. This week was no different!

Realizing I was out of window cleaner I quickly whipped up a new batch and got to cleaning them up.

This cleaner is easy to whip up in a few minutes with items you probably already have in your cupboards. It dries fast and cleans the mirrors and windows to a sparkle.

Did you know that most store bought window cleaners contain additives earning them a D rating from the EWG?

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar

  • 3 tablespoons vodka

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch

  • 3/4 cup water

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients in a 16oz spray bottle and shake to combine.
  • Shake before each use and spray your class surface wiping with a clean cloth or e-cloth.

Notes

  • If you are worried about the alcohol smell it dissipates very quickly, rubbing alcohol does have less of a smell and can replace vodka in this recipe.
  • Cornstarch acts as a gentle abrasive but a bit more wiping may be necessary to get a sparkling shine.
  • Works well on metal bathroom hardware!
