A journey… one single pivotal step that can change everything. From literary experience it is in my opinion that a person always changes after a journey. Usually for the better and in this instance that is my holy grail, excalibur and one ring. In the humble words of JRR Tolkein (and his character Bilbo Bagins) “I think I’m quite ready for another adventure.”
My name is Lauren. I am a mother, a wife, a dog and cat mom, homemaker, cook, baker and I wouldn’t give up any of these jobs for the world. The most important part of it all is continuously making my house a home for my family.
Nutrition has always been a passion of mine. I am in no way a nutritionist nor am I a doctor, but research and discovering new items always gets my juices flowing. Not long ago I was extremely overweight coming in at over 300 pounds. I made the decision to have bariatric surgery (gastric sleeve) and I have never looked back. For me it was the best decision I could and have made. I did it for my eldest daughter and now get to enjoy all activities with all 3 of my children.
Because of this decision I opened the doorway to food. I discovered or realized that food is for fuel and enjoyment, but that there needs to be a balance. There needs to be moderation. It was discovered that our son has a food allergy called FPIES (Food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome) Which requires many alterations to food items that we currently eat. As I’ve already said I am no expert, but I am always learning and testing recipes and ingredients. All of which I am excited to share with you.
Beyond food, I enjoy fun activities and getting creative with my 3 delightful children and husband. Decorating our new home is another passion. We bring things together from new, old and thrifted into our eclectically fun abode.
Welcome to this journey. A path to a simpler life in a very modern world.
