FPIES Friendly Cinnamon Graham Crackers

Delicious and safe on even the most sensitive tummy

FPIES is a food allergy that effects infants and young children. The hope is that they will grow out of the allergy by the age of 3 or 4. Due to the allergy food items such as; Rice, Oats, Soy and some Dairy can not be tolerated. This certainly doesn’t mean that they can’t enjoy yummy treats along the way.

I was finding that my son was really struggling with the fact that his sisters could enjoy snacks but he wasn’t allowed to have them. I knew then that it was time to start making snacks that my older two would recognize and enjoy, but could also be shared with their brother. This also curbed the constant fear of “what if.” What if he gets their snack? What if I don’t realize in time? What if he gets sick again?

Taking a deep breath I got into my kitchen and whipped up these simple 4 ingredient graham crackers!

FPIES Friendly Cinnamon Graham Crackers

Delicious and safe on even the most sensitive tummy!

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups almond flour

  • 2 tablespoons arrowroot flour

  • 4 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350o Fahrenheit or 180o Celsius.
  • Place all ingredients into a food processor and pulse until a dough forms.
  • Roll out dough to 1/4″ thickness between two sheets of parchment paper.
  • Once rolled out remove top layer of parchment paper. To cut the dough you can use a pizza cutter for a classic graham cracker shape, or have fun with it and cut into different shapes.
  • Once cut, place onto a lined baking sheet and prick with a fork to keep crackers from puffing up.
  • Bake for 6 minutes.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks (if they last that long!)

Notes

  • Omit cinnamon for a classic graham cracker taste.
