Baked Broccoli Macaroni and Cheese

This is 100 percent comfort food. This time of the year with the cold weather, comfort food reigns supreme. Talk about releasing those good happy hormones.

Our home since Christmas has been a sick base. We have all passed around the Flu, respiratory bugs and an ear infection to boot. With all pf the bugs we’ve been sharing the thought of any food has been far from our minds. But one thing that was requested was comfort comfort comfort food.

Couldn’t wait for it to bake had to have a bite first!

So here it is our absolute favorite comforting dish. We like putting broccoli in it but any veggie or no veggies at all would also be great!

Baked Broccoli Macaroni and Cheese

Creamy, Cheesy and Delicious!

Ingredients

  • 16 oz of shaped noodle

  • 3 1/2 cups milk

  • 1/3 cup butter

  • 1/3 cup flour

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup gouda cheese

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 12 ounces broccoli, thawed

Directions

  • Cook pasta al dente, drain and set aside.
  • preheat oven to 350o F
  • melt butter in large sauce pan and add flour stirring constantly for 1-2 minutes. Begin adding milk 1/2 cup at a time while stirring. Add cheese a small amount at a time to allow to melt completely. Once all cheese is melted add seasonings and remove from heat.
  • Combine pasta, cheese sauce and broccoli mixing well. Then place into a greased 9×13 pan.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.
